Prevention: Educational programs for youth, adult and the elderly of the community.

    • Fire Prevention Week – We speak to over 600 children in the Ottawa community in October during national fire prevention week.                               

Inspection: Fire safety inspections and commercial building pre-plans, we have one Certified Fire Safety Inspector.

    • Over 60 inspections and pre-plans are completed annually

     • 250+ pre-plans maintained for commercial, industrial and

         public sector buildings

Investigation: Is the process of determining the cause and origin of a fire. Fire Investigatiors attend an extensive training class and have to maintain multiple disciplines of training every year as overseen by the International Association of Arson Investigators.  Ottawa Fire Department has 2 Investigators.

    • Since 1997 out of twelve suspicious fires there has been 3 convictions and

         1 juvenile placed in counseling.
