The Village of Ottawa, half of Ottawa Township and four square miles of Pleasant Township is protected from three Fire Stations operated by the Ottawa Volunteer Fire Department.

The staff of 40 officers and firefighters is trained in fire suppression, technical rescue, fire prevention, inspection, hazardous materials operations and medical first response.

The Fire Department has an ISO rating of four and operates eight pieces of updated fire apparatus

The Fire Department Houses and Mans the Heavy rescue truck for the eastern half of Putnam County.

The Department houses the Putnam County HAZMAT Emergency Response Trailer.
